Simple Homemade Star Ornament

{While you are here, be sure to check out the rest of the Beautiful Christmas (on a budget) series!}

How to make a simple wooden star for less than a penny….

First you will need a few sticks (it helps if  the tree in your front yard drops them on to the ground for you.  My tree was very accommodating.  heh.)

Break a stick into five pieces, approximately the same length.

Then, using a small brad, nail two of the sticks creating a 45 degree angle.

You now have the top point of your star!

Repeat the same process for the rest of your star’s points.  I found that it was easier if each stick was on top at one end and on the bottom for the other.

Optional:  Once the star is intact, cover the nails with a few wraps of burlap twine.  It gives the impression that the star is assembled with the burlap and hides the small nails.

TaDa!   Give yourself a big pat on the back…  You’ve made your own homemade Star Ornament!
