Potty Training

We are entering a new phase in the Nature household… Potty Training.

Who knew that it would be such an interesting topic?

Books, videos, chocolate coated incentives…

Unfortunately, I don’t think we’re getting through to him yet.

Who knew that a potty could make such excellent storage?

Hahaha! Your little guy sure is creative! I have decided to wait until mine is about three to do the training. Right now he is learning the term from me to go number 1 when he is taking a bath (he goes in the bathtub and has found it fascinating that he could aim and fire!). He is starting to feel uncomfortable with a soiled diaper so I hope the training would be taking place soon.

Has anyone told you that no matter how hard you try, they do it when they are ready? Our pediatrician finally just told me “give it up” and when he/she (yep…both of mine were stubborn) they’ll do it. Otherwise, it’s like peeing against the wind (those are my words not the pediatrician’s…and no pun intended).
Good luck with this next step of the journey…and in your case you should probably check in the potty before you have him sit. Wouldn’t want those toys to get wet!
Peace and blessings to your day!

Ok….that made me laugh out loud. Have fun with that. I have to say that I don’t miss potty training.
Blessings.

That brought back some memories! Before potty training, I also believed that a potty was for one purpose. Now, I understand that ‘getting used to the potty’ can take on a whole new meaning…storage, jumping on it, carrying it around etc. Hope this phase goes smoothly for your household. The other side of it is wonderful!!!

Hahahaahaaaa!!!! ;-)

I’ve been dreading this phase for my little guy. I think I’ll start in the fall. Oh, is it already fall? Maybe winter…

Thanks for hosting :) I love how your potty chair is the new storage bin. Ha ha! That is something my youngest would totally do too! Thanks, I needed that laugh today.

Hey there!
Thanks for stopping over at my blog today. By the way…YES!…I am VERY excited that Kim will be heading back to Minnesota. We will be neighbors and I can’t wait to have her just a quick skip down the sidewalk away!
How goes the potty training? Has he sunk any Cheerios yet? :)
Peace and blessings to your day.

Ha ha that is so adorable. Dont worry we are having the same frustrations. Our little guy says no everytime we ask him to try. I asked him to try yesterday and I came back to find his Curious George doll sitting on the potty instead.

We’re potty training too. I think it’s a never ending thing really. My daughter was pretty easy, in hindsight. I’m not looking forward to potty training a little boy. Although I think cheerios will be good aiming tools in the potty.

We have a four year old with autism we are trying to potty train and a soon to be 3 year old with ADHD who isn’t trained yet. They both disrobe and play in their diapers. We actually invented some clothing that helps the situation. http://www.ikidsfashion.com thanks a lot!

You’re the only person I know who can make pictures of a potty chair look beautiful!

Welcome to a whole new world! I can guarantee that by the end of it you will know where every bathroom is within a ten mile radius of anywhere you may be on the globe and at some point, you will try to convince yourself that surely no one will notice if he’s still in diapers at the age of seven.

You will also have an incredible sense of freedom and bittersweet longing. It’s all part of the motherhood game. Always worth it, but still bittersweet. Good luck, my friend!

LOL That looks about right! I’m still working on my 2 year old, she has good days & bad. I just wish she was consistent! At least we have the pooping in the potty down, no more nasty poop diapers!

I am going through the same thing!! Finley sits on the potty for 2 seconds and then says, “cookie!” and shakes his head emphatically yes. Most days he is so excited to see Spiderman on his potty seat that he forgets completely about going potty! Good luck.

I think every stuffed animal and baby doll uses the potty at our house. Everyone except my sweet girl! :) I think all Momma’s that are potty training deserve a cupcake!

Stopping by from SITS! Have a great morning!

What a photo :) I remember those days and I am actually reliving them over and over with 11 grand children. I may be an expert. If your child can not say I need to use the bathroom and is not 3…you are setting yourself up for either a Mommy that is potty trained (not the child) or complete frustration and failure. It also should not take longer than a week. Night time may take a bit longer for some.
