I just returned home from the vacation of a lifetime. It was probably too good to describe in words, but I’ll try to do it justice…
I spent six days at my parent’s house where I didn’t have to make a meal, my laundry showed up in my bedroom miraculously clean (and folded!), and my son was entertained by his adoring Grammie and Grampie 24/7. I spent the mornings going for walks with my boy, I snacked from a fridge stocked with groceries that I didn’t have to buy, and I went running with my sister four times in six days.
And to top it all off, they have high speed internet.
Truly the best possible vacation a mama can have, with the best possible people I know.
(The only thing missing was Nature Boy who had to stay home and work).
And now that I’m back home, my heart is full of gratitude for the wonderful Mom and Dad I’ve been blessed with. Spending time at their home is like finding an oasis in the middle of a desert – it’s so peaceful and beautiful and restorative. And they love me and my family with such real, deep love… They are so much more than I deserve.
Thanks Mom and Dad… you bring JOY to my heart!

And what about you? What brought you JOY this week? Tell us about it!

Aw. Love this. Awesome parents are, well, awesome.
Hi Sharon -
I can so relate to spending time at my parent’s house. They no longer live in my childhood home, but in a retirement community. When my girls were little I looked forward to going to Mom and Dads. Everything you described in your post was the same for me, too.
I am glad to hear you got to relax and do some things while Mom and Dad took care of you and your little guy.

Beautifully written, Sharon! My parents also have high speed internet hahaha. That’s a beautiful picture of your parents!
Yay for going home! It must have been so lovely for you to just let yourself be the one taken care of again. Um, could you get your mom to give my mom the idea of doing my laundry? She wouldn’t even have to do my kids. I promise!
Did you get to go to In and Out while you were there? If you did, then it was truly a most perfect trip.
Sounds like a great reason for joy! And a vacation *with* high-speed internet? That’s quite something to celebrate.
It’s wonderful that you get so much joy from family visits. Not everyone can say that, so you really are blessed!
Sounds like a wonderful vacation – surrounded by people who love you!
Very sweet! Glad to hear you had such a wonderful time with your equally wonderful family. Nothing like “going home.”
How wonderful
Hugs and blessings,
Awww this made me tear up a bit! I pray my children will see me and my husband with this same love and gratitude when they are grown.
You have an awesome Mom and Dad! That is what I do when my kids come to stay….at least that is what I try to do. Wait on them…..feed them…enjoy them. Glad you had a good week.
SUCH FUN!! Glad you had such a dreamy time!
Just found your blog. I love your little statement about Googling your way through motherhood. So creative!
