First Fruits

Post image for First Fruits

I walked out to the garden this morning and my eye was caught by a flash of red hiding amongst the tomatoes. While everything else is still ripening, this first taste of summer proclaimed it’s readiness; absolutely delicious.

Last summer (my first ever with a garden – and how Nature Boy got his name) we didn’t have any luck with tomatoes. They were blighted – and it was gross.

But this year, they seem to be thriving. The perfect balance between rain and sun… I can already taste the salsa I’m going to make!

The onions however, don’t seem to be faring as well… unfortunately, they have experienced a new form of garden disease known as “the trample”…

I wonder how that happened?

(by the way, thanks for all your well wishes after my disastrous day… things seem to be much better now!)

Gorgeous tomatoes! I love homegrown tomatoes but ours have met some weird virus this year and we don’t have the bushels full that we had last year. Can’t wait to see the salsa that you come up with! Maybe your little tromper can help you crush the tomatoes.

Hmm, my onions look like that too. I think I might have the same garden disease :)

We picked some tomatoes off our vines yesterday too! I was so excited and kids were even more thrilled!

So jealous. We have one little tomato on our one little planet and it’s still green. I’m so excited to see it growing though that I actually go out there and root for the dang thing every morning. It’s my first time. I’m anxious.

We got our first tomatoes yesterday too! We’ve been enjoying the squash and zuchinni for a few weeks now. But the tomatoes are my fave so I am SUPER excited!

YUM!! Nothing beats the juicy, warm, sun kissed taste of a home grown tomatoe. This post is making me want a grilled cheese and tomatoe sandwich.
