Go Carts for Grown Ups…

by Sharon on May 5, 2010

One of my favorite parts of summer time is mowing the lawn.

I know. Weird, huh?

I probably should dread mowing it, since it’s no small endeavor… reasonably it takes me about 5 hours to get it all done (I should say it takes me two and a half of the Little Man’s nap, ’cause that’s how I actually think about it).

What do I love about it?

I love the fact that I’m outside in the sun (since you really shouldn’t mow the lawn if it’s raining. Trust me, I know)

I love the fact that I have a huge block of time when I can sing and pray and think without interruptions (except for that one time when I almost crashed into the creek and had to scream for Nature Boy to come rescue me… but that only happened once.)

And I love the fact that I get to mow the lawn riding one of these (which we got for FREE)…

It’s a ‘Go Cart for Grown Ups’ and every time I use it, I feel like God is giving me a big HUG. Just for the JOY of it.

Good, True & Beautiful

We have a zero turn as well..although ours was NOT free! Money well spent because of the HUGE time savings…anyway I LOVE mowing as well. I relate with all your reasons plus I LOVE how it looks when it all mowed…so pretty! I hope to link up later :) Happy Thursday!

That’s so great! Well, the free part and the uninterrupted time to yourself.

Perhaps if you got a few cows, it would cut down on mowing?? :) Although it would present the obvious clean-up of something much less desireable.

That’s great that you enjoy mowing! When I was a little girl, we lived in the country and had a riding lawn mower. My brothers and I loved sitting on my dad’s lap while he drove, although we always ended up falling asleep.

SInce my husband is a perfectionist (and I am not!), he is the one who does the mowing at our home. I wouldn’t mind it too much like you said, lots of time to reflect and be still before the Lord. I think with a mower like this, I would really enjoy it!

Looks like FUN to me, but my lawn is so tiny (not to mention bumpy) methinks such machinery could cause disaster. Of course, that said Korean grass only needs edging on any kind of regular basis and cutting back every 5-6 years ;-)
Hugs and blessings,

LOVE IT!! I would totally mow the lawn if I had one of those! Hubs would be so jealous – he usually gets the good “toys”

I remember my BFF’s mom riding on the lawn mower when we were younger. She always told us not to interrupt her unless it was a life or death emergency…she loved that time on the mower too!

Sign me up! Our major request in a new house is to have a yard large enough to need a riding lawn mower. I think Hubby has finally accepted that we won’t have horses, so this is the next best thing!

Will you have to fight Little Man when he gets old enough to want to drive that thing around? Ooooo, I’d love to see that!

When I was a teenager we had a riding lawn mower and I had the great pleasure of riding it around and mowing the grass. I loved it :D

When DH was deployed for the fifth time i bought a used riding lawnmower and i agree i could have mowed the lawn daily, i loved it. Then we moved to our next duty station and it was not really needed. So we move to the new house and my hero spends hours and hours and more hours working on it. He says it works great (it did I saw him mow the lawn) and then I pull it out to mow the week after he deploys and guess what it breaks, UGGGGGGGGGGG I guess I will be push mowing until he gets home. luckily I have a 13 year old to help
