This is all the makeup I own.
Mascara is my “go to” essential when it comes to looking nice, which means I wear mascara about twice a week.
Why I don’t invest 30 seconds of mascara-applying-time every day is a personality quirk I have yet to explore.
I also have an eyelash-creame-thingy that is supposed to make your mascara look better.
I have no idea how it works, because I’ve never used it. But it’s still in my makeup bag, hoping that one day I’ll take it for a test drive.
{Does mascara-creame-stuff expire? If yes, this poor sucker is doomed.}
Apparently I also have a lip lining pencil….
… which tastes good to little two year old boys. Who knew?
But my greatest and most beloved cosmetic of them all is my charcoal brown eye liner.
I bring this baby out for special occasions, like Mother’s Day, Papal Visits and doctor appointments (especially the pediatric appointments, when proving that I am a mother who is competent enough to care for a small child AND apply makeup is essential).
And the most endearing part about this eye liner is the point of purchase.
Most people buy their cosmetics at Departments Stores like Neiman Marcus and Nordstroms and Macy’s. All very illustrious and reputable sources I’m sure.
But not me.
I bought this eyeliner at a gas station in Herkimer, NY when, half way to a work related function, I realized that I forgot to put on mascara.
I kid you not.
Best $1.99 I ever spent.

You are so funny! And I do think make up expires…but I hate to throw away expensive stuff!

Lol!! You’re too funny! I admire your simplicity. I wish I could be more like that!
I don’t think I could choose which of my makeup is essential. It’s ALL essential. My hubby used to think it was great that I put makeup on to go to the grocery store. Now he just wishes I would hurry up!
Makeup and hair must be done everyday or I just feel yucky. Funny how we’re all different.
LOVE IT! I have lots of make-up I NEVER wear – though I should throw it on for the pediatrician. That is a valid point and too funny! It is actually on my list of things to de-clutter ASAP!
That’s all you need, right?
How did you get pictures of what’s in my makeup bag? I swear to you, we are kindred spirits when it comes to make up…only my mascara application probably averages about once a week.

It always works that way.
But you must be young to not need much makeup!

Think you may even have me beat. Well, maybe not. My go to make-up item of choice is the expertly-matched foundation sample I got for FREE at the Clinique counter. It was supposed to last 10 days, I’ve had it 2 months, easily. I do love it, though and if it weren’t $40 to purchase I’d stop scraping my finger around the inside of the sample and buy some already. But, just can’t justify it for a girl who only puts on make-up 8 times in 2 months! Sad? Perhaps. True? For sure!

Oh yes eye makeup is the best. Me, Auntie E, has been selling makeup for over 20 years, and wearing it for over 30 years. only the pencils and mascara go bad. Mascara and liquid eyeliner needs to be replaced every 90 days, due to bacteria. It can cause eye infections and pinkeye. Pencils can last up to three years, however do sharpen weekly to remove the bacteria. Hope that keeps you healthy in the eye area. BYW Powder eye colors last forever!
Love your post, so funny about the chewed pencil end.

sorry Alicia! I have a “contact me” button over on the right (green talking balloon thingy) but you’re right, that isn’t very noticeable. I’ll fix that!
In the meantime, I’ll send you an email shortly!
You know some times simple is best, especially if you have a complexion which looks great whether you wear makeup or not. I also have to agree with you on the eye liner…can’t beat that price!

Oh you make me feel much better! I always think of you as such a feminine and beautiful woman… and even better that you don’t cover it up with cosmetics, right?!
You are too funny
I never wear make-up….I bought my first make-up for my wedding and it sat there for years. This past year I finally invested in some make-up and my sister had to teach me how to put it on (I am 32!!!). I like it but only wear it about once a month
Ah, make-up….what is that? I have NO IDEA how to put make-up on! The only thing I ever owned, and don’t even think I have anymore, is lipstick. That was my go to. When I was in college my roommates loved to ‘do me up’ for girls’ nights out! The only day I wore make-up, other than when my roommates did it, was for my wedding and I had to hire someone to do it. I am clueless when it comes to make-up. What you see is what you get…day in and day out, for better or worse:-)
At least you are buying make-up. I think i wear make-up maybe twice a year, for special occasions. I’m just too lazy, I guess.
You have more than I do. I just have one and it’s the foundation
