Friday, Friday!

by Sharon on March 5, 2010

It’s Friday and that means I ♥ Faces is having their Fix It challenge!

Here is the picture we were given to work with…

I’m not very good with Camera RAW, but I’m learning… Here is what it looked like when I played around in RAW, mostly using the recovery slider….

Then I opened the picture in PhotoShop and did my usual tweaks (contrast, levels, curves).

I focused a lot on the bright spot on his head, trying to get the lighting balanced. I also used Coffee Shop’s Powder Room 2 to smooth out the skin and brighten his eyes.

I also cropped it on an angle and cloned in the missing background.

Once I had a look I liked, I started to play..

Here is the picture with Pioneer Woman’s Soft & Faded Action….

And here it is with my new favorite Black & White Action (desaturate, then using variations add a touch of yellow/red, and then fade it back to 20%)

I think my favorite is the Soft & Faded…. Which do you like best?

Sharon,
I am finally playing along! Nice edits!

Funny thing – I ran PW’s soft and faded also.

I think I’d have to go with the Soft and Faded.

Thank you for visiting on my SITs day!
