Oh Boy, did I have fun this past weekend.
Putting aside my angst ridden musing on what constitutes cute in the realm of shoes, I drove south to Baltimore and spent the day with a great bunch of ladies in the SITSahood.
I laughed, I learned, and I talked too much.
And never has an 18 hour day gone faster.
Tiffany, one half of the dynamic duo behind SITS, orchestrated a great day…
We discussed the fun of blogging.
We discussed the influence of women.
And we discussed how you pronounce the word “meme.”
Full Disclosure: I always thought it was pronounced Me Me, as in “the whole world evolves around Me. Me.”
Apparently my ego is entirely too big for my brain, ’cause the smart folks say that it’s pronounced meeeeeem, which rhymes with dream.
Ooops. I’ll have to add that to my list of 25 Things.
Any whoooo….
Tiffany lined up a great panel of speakers who answered questions about SEO, Branding, PR and the good ol’ FTC. Lots of good stuff there.
And she also invited some bloggers who have found their niche to give advice to those of us who are still looking for ours (unless you count the niche of “terrible haircuts that moms inflict on their children”… in that case I’ve got it covered).

(anyone recognize MamaKat?!)
But the best, best, best part of my first blogging conference was the chance to meet some groovy ladies who just GET it.

They UNDERSTAND how you can be be friends with someone you’ve never met.

They TOTALLY COMPREHEND the delightful and supportive camaraderie that can be found in the community of women who are pouring their hearts into their keyboards.

And they occasionally laugh at my jokes.
Meeting new girlfriends. How sweet it is!

How fun! And the whole blogging niche it eludes me. Is it ok to blog if you are clueless and nicheless?

I hope it’s okay, cause that’s what I’ve been doing my friend! I pretend to myself that I’m a trail blazer… but it’s more likely that I’m lost!
What a wonderful recap and fantastic photos! It truly was such a great experience.
So glad I went!

Your blog looks great… makes me want to switch to Word Press even more. I still love your red shoes! It was really good meeting you.

So funny that my shoes were a hit… if you only knew how bad I am at fashion!
If you need any help moving to WP I’d be glad to offer my input – I’m glad I made the move although it felt pretty brave at the time!
Great photos and so glad that you had such a wonderful time!

thanks Kat! It was a real pleasure… I appreciated your generosity in sharing what you’ve learned.
I totally agree, my favorite part of Boot Camp was being with a whole group of women who don’t think I’m crazy for loving blogs!
exactly!! it was like a dream come true. To have a real life conversations about Wordpress and SEO and buttons! Everyone else I know thinks it’s kooky!
how fun, I actually started following them when the first started and their very first giveaway was one of my necklaces!

just shows you that they have good taste, right!?! very cool…
Oh, what a fun day! (And I bet your shoe dilemma worked out just fine.) What a blessing to be in a room full of others who love doing the same thing as you! I can’t wait for the one in Phoenix. I am so there!!
As for niches, I think mine would be “stay at home mama, homeschooling and trying not to lose her mind by sharing her daily life on the Internet with other like-minded people, hoping to realize I’m not the only other goofy person in the world”. (And who, apparently, likes to write run on sentences.)

hee hee hee hee. That sounds like a really good niche. I like it!!
So FUN! What a wonderful experience for you! Glad you met so many of your blogging friends and were able to share your day with them.
Peace and blessings to your day!

thanks Jen! It was such a great day and I learned so much! I just wish there was more time to hang out with everyone… Next time. I’m totally tempted to go to Philadelphia!
How fun is that?! My husband regularly questioned my reasoning behind blogging, but now I think he finally gets that I am able to connect with so many other women and keep my mind sharp (relatively speaking of course!) at the same time.
Cute post. I have to tell you though that you do not have the market on bad hair cuts entirely cornered, we suffered a few of our own before I resorted to clippers too. (That post made me smile
Oh and thanks for the “me me” guide, I too thought the world revolved around me!

What a refreshing break for you! Can tell you are SO glad you went!
That looks like so much fun! My husband totally does not understand when I start talking about amazing posts I’ve read on some of my favorite blogs. He says “So you KNOW this person?” Well, yeah! Have I ever met them in person? No. But I feel like I have! How fun to really get to meet some of your blogging friends up close and personal.

You too! Wish I had more time… seeing all the pcitures and tweets makes me realized that I barely scratched the surface. How’d I miss the “circle of Truth?!”
It was a great time! I was so nervous, but now I am kicking myself and wished I talked to MORE people! I have a feeling we may all meet up again in Philly!

I think you might be right! i’m seriously thinking about it… now I just wish I had a crystal ball to see how hectic life will be in September!
I am really wishing we had more time to talk with one another. Meeting you was such a treat, and I only hope we can keep in touch and find one another again, at another conference…very soon! You’re photography is amazing, and your writing is even better. Sharon, you are my people, and a part of my tribe for sure!

I KNOW! I felt exactly the same way. “Kindred Spirits” as Anne of Green Gables might say! I had such a terrific time in Baltimore, although reading through everyone’s posts makes me realize I didn’t meet nearly enough people. Next time I’m spending the night for sure!
I missed meeting you, but really enjoyed this wrap up post. Maybe we will meet up in the future!
Thanks Dianna! I totally agree. I thought I met so many people (and I did!) but now reading everyone’s blogs and great writing, I realize that I barely scratched the surface. I think we should all go back and do it again!
It was just too awesome meeting you! I have to say that you have a beautiful sense of self and smile! Good for you. We should all be so lucky! I wish I had more time to chat with you but I’m certain we will be meeting across the blogosphere. Following you now in Google.

Thanks Marcy! That’s the nicest thing you could say… I always feel/think that I talk too much and should keep my mouth shut. But it is so hard when my head is bouncing full ideas and observations!
I’m sending you an email about the guest post ASAP!
Lunch was one of my very favorite times too, I’m so glad I got the chance to sit next to you. It always amazes me how women with so many different backgrounds and interests are brought together by blogging.
