Cute Shoes

by Sharon on March 1, 2010

For the last year, I have been sitting down at my computer to write about my simple little life in the middle of nowhere.

I’ve shared cute pictures of my son, embarrassing moments that I might prefer to forget, and a few little tips that help me continue to be a stay at home mom eating chocolate ice cream (as opposed to a corporate ladder climber who eats chocolate ice cream).

And somehow, along the way I’ve made an awful lot of friends.  Honestly, it’s been absolutely dreamy.

The only downside of these cyber friendships is that I don’t often get the chance to actually MEET any of you nice people.

I imagine in my head what you might look like, or how you laugh, and what it would be like to chat over a bowl of ice cream cup of coffee…

And trust me, in my head we are having a grand ol’ time.  Like long lost cousins or something.

It’s all good, I assure you.

Well, mostly all good…  ‘Cause this next Saturday all of my imaginary ramblings are going to be put to the test.

This upcoming weekend I’m gonna be loading up and heading south to the beautiful city of Baltimore.  And there, in a lovely hotel in the Inner Harbor I’m actually going to meet 80 other bloggers.

And you know what I have to say about that?

Ahhh!

All of the pre-girlfriend jitters are front and center…

Will I talk too much? (probably)

Will I laugh too loud? (most likely)

Will I take too many pictures (most definitely)

But you know the thing that is really worrying me the most? It’s the same thing that every woman who has ever walked the face of this beautiful, green earth since the beginning time has worried about….

What the heck am I supposed to wear?

Of course, the problem has been compounded by the tweets and comments and eager delight that has been flying around cyberspace as these awesome, blog loving ladies prepare to to hang out together for a day.

And the one that gave me a serious attack of nervous, palm sweating panic….

Question: What are y’all thinking about wearing to the conference? I need an excuse to go shopping!

(I don’t know if she is actually southern, but in my head that’s what she sounds like…. think Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side)

Answer: Oh, be casual and comfortable! A nice top, comfy jeans, cute shoes… whatever floats your boat.

Ahhhh!

And so I turn to you, my dear, wonderful cyber friends who have never steered my wrong…

Do any of these count as cute shoes???

Yeah, I didn’t think so either.

Bummer.

Well, if you happen to be attending the SITS Girl’s Bloggy Boot Camp this weekend in Baltimore, I’m sure lookin’ forward to meeting you.

I’m just hopin’ that you’ll avoid lookin’ at my feet.

I’ll be the one in ill-fitting jeans (my body got all borked from losing and gaining and losing and gaining during my pregnancy and postpartum with the twins) and a tee that most likely will have spit up on it… unless I can sneak out of the hotel before they christen it.

Ah! I thought spit up was bad with just one! I think mom’s of multiples deserve a gold star just for surviving breakfast… don’t know how you ladies do it!

Hey Sharon, I laughed right out loud at this post because in 18 days I see MICHAEL BUBLE in concert and I am obsessing over what to wear!! I have been auditioning necklaces in my arsenal to see if they are good enough!! :)

Oh COOL! I would love to see him in concert! What a treat! (and if you need to borrow my shoes, I’d understand!)

Ooh how exciting! I would be nervous too, but I’m sure whatever you wear will be perfect! You have such a warm and wonderful personality that comes right through in your blog posts so who cares what you’re wearing, it’s the great person in the clothes that everyone will remember!

Enjoy your weekend!

Kat :)

Oh how fun! I think I would be nervous too. I have no clue what I would wear to something like that…I’d have to go shopping and pick an entire outfit straight from a mannequin.

That sounds like SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!! I hope you have a fabulous time! Now…on to your question about the shoes. Um…no. Those are not “cute shoes.” They are, however, comfortable, practical, I’ve-broken-these-in-to-fit-me-perfectly-like-an-old-pair-of-jeans shoes…and I love each pair of them. They are just as I imagine you from the stories you’ve shared about your life on your little farm. Honestly, if I was one of the blogging friends at the event this weekend and was meeting you in person for the first time, those are the shoes I would want to see you wear because they reflect you. YOU are the person they are waiting anxiously to meet. YOU are the person they want to see. YOU are the person they want to hear talk too much and laugh too loud (those are your words, remember?). They are not there to meet your shoes!
Hope you have a FABULOUS time! Can’t wait to hear all about it and see lots of photos! HAVE FUN!
Peace.

Great post. I think the first pair of shoes you showcased are cute. :) The thick, snow boot looking ones might work with all the snow up that way however might be hot during the conference. ;) (Just joking.) At any rate, I wanted to stop by and thank you for dropping by my blog and leaving a lovely comment. SITS seems to be such a fabulous group and I look forward to getting to know everyone through their blogs. It is nice “meeting” you. Best wishes at Bloggy Boot camp!

Kindest regards,
Brook

Oh Sharon, you always speak to my heart! I LOVE ice cream!

j/k (well not really!)

I would be worrying about the same exact thing. But, in the end there’s really nothing to worry about. I never look at people’s shoes, and we can’t see them on the other side of the computer screen so no worries. I bet no one there will tell us either.

HAVE FUN! I’m so envious!

What FUN ;-)
Hope you have a wonderful time! One of these days I hope to meet some of my ‘virtual’ friends for REAL and I know I won’t be looking at their shoes … or their clothes. I’ll just be enjoying the connection for as long as it lasts.
Hugs and blessings,

Hey Sharon, cute blog!! So excited for you though about B’more! I lived there for 3 1/2 years – you will really enjoy the inner harbor and be quite overwhelmed by the shopping I bet after living here:-) You can definitely pick up a CUTE pair of shoes there before the meeting!! And of course you are more than welcome to raid my closet (although I don’t know your size?? I’m an 81/2.) I used to have a shoe obsession (still would if I didn’t have a child and made an income probably). Anyway, I am sure you are going to have a blast and everyone is going to love you (or else they are definitely and certifiably crazy!!). See you tomorrow at m2m!

Oh, twinges of envy! I wish I could be in Baltimore to meet you…

I AM going to try to go to the one in Phoenix in May, so if you’re ready to warm up a little bit (okay, alot. it will already be hot here most likely.), just hop on a plane for the weekend!;)

Totally get the wanting to talk to blogging friends in person. I love having friends all over the nation, but still just want to chat over a luscious dessert, which could include, but is not limited to, chocolate ice cream.

Have a glorious time! Hope you’re happy with your shoe choice.

I so wish I was going and could meet you! Had no idea about the conference – being a newbie and all. Maybe next year – too bad, it is not that far. Swing through Boston on your way – LOL!

Have fun and bring back all kinds of nuggets of knowledge for us. You will do fine and you will look great!
