If you’re a Google Follower…

by Sharon on January 31, 2010

…. I have some news for you.

I’m leaving.

Hopefully not for very long, but perhaps for a few days.

No, I’m not leaving this blog.

But I am leaving Blogger.  Some time in the next week I’ll be migrating over to WordPress.

{I’m not sure exactly when — all depends on how quickly this old dog can learn some new tricks}

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way (that I know of) to update the feed that you get in your Google Reader so that it starts getting info from my new WordPress digs.  Annoying, I know.

Anyone have a friend at Google that I could speak to about that?

Sooooo…

I know it’s a bit of an imposition, but would you consider, maybe,  signing up for the RSS or email feeds?

And to make it worth your while, I’ll let you in on a little secret…

You won’t want to miss things around here next week.

If you promise not to tell anyone, I’ll let you know that next week I’ll be throwing a party.

A party with prizes.

And one of the prizes has a picture of Ben Franklin on it.

Seriously.

So would you be willing?  RSS or Email?

MOM! (and anyone else who doesn’t understand what the heck I’m talking about…):
Since you are reading this is in the form of an e-mail you don’t need to change a thing.  You will still get your emails just like always.  No action required.  Just be sure to avoid hitting that unsubscribe button down there at the bottom.  It will cause the internet to explode.   Very, very dangerous button.   Other than that, you should be fine.

Sharon, I just signed up for the RSS. What caused the move? Is there something we need to know about Blogger's service?

I'm a subscriber and a follower :) Can you share some of your reasons for switching? When I read about people switching I always feel like I may be missing out on something important…I just don't know what it is.

Don't worry, have your web addy memorized, and won't forget you.

And why the switch, I see people switch from blogger to wp all the time, and still not sure why.

Congrats on the move to WP, I think you will love it. I made the switch to self hosted WP a few months ago and love it. Not sure about the google followers thing, but if you have any other questions I might be able to help, might!

Also love your Mom disclaimer!

I haven't found a way to really solve the google friend/wordpress noncompatibility issue. (and I dug around quite a bit after having a reader specifically say she wanted to follow me that way.) :(
