Christmas in Cooperstown

by Sharon on December 21, 2009

Cooperstown is known as America’s Perfect Village and at Christmas time, it’s not hard to understand why.

Last night the Farmer’s Museum hosted their annual Candlelight Evening and it honestly takes my breath away (and not just because it was 25 degrees!)

The ground was covered in snow, there was hot wassail brewing over an open fire, and the sound of Christmas carols echoed through the air…

And then you look up to see a horse drawn wagons waiting for their passengers (Oh what fun it is to ride in a two horse open sleigh!)

Or if carousels are more your style…

They even offer flying lessons….

For me however, the most enjoyable part was watching our son indulge in his fascination with lights, whether it be candles…

… or lanterns

… or Christmas trees

(Can you imagine what Christmas morning will be like when he comes down the stairs and sees our tree for the first time?  I can’t wait!)

From from America’s Perfect Village let me say Merry Christmas!  If you come to visit be sure to bring your mittens.

Those are beautiful pictures! I remember when we were there this past summer (tournament of course!) and we drove by the Farmers museum every day, loved the charm it exuded. Never even thought how beautiful it would be at Christmas time!

With regards to your photos, I love them all, but especially the blue background with the lit tree! Very nice!

Stay warm!

Thank you for the beautiful pictures Sharon. I will pretend I am having a white Christmas in a 63 degree city. LOL! I think your little guy will be at awe at the Christmas tree lights that you will show him on Christmas day. I can't wait to see the pictures of his expression! My little one asks to have the light turned on every morning when he came down from his room. He calls the blinking lights "stars". LOL!
The lanterns is my favorite from this group of photos. I love your little guy's shadow and the pointing at the light. :)

Okay, I now really want to move there! I'm trying to be content with the lovely 60 degree weather we're having here, but your pictures… Well, let's just say, Hubby and I will be having a serious talk when we get home!

I guess I've always wanted to live in a Norman Rockwell-ian kind of world. Sure does look like fun!

WOW! That's beautiful! I think I want to go to Cooperstown! Your son will be so excited on Christmas morning! Hope you get a good photo of the look on his little face when he sees the tree!
Thanks for sharing Cooperstown with the rest of us who can't experience it for ourselves.
Peace.

How quaint! How beautiful!! Your pictures are wonderful. I especially love the one of the tree. Well done! (said eviously as I have yet to take a pic of a lit tree that I'm happy with).

Sharon – beautiful shots as usual. I have been showing my hubby all your pics and he has BIG farm house envy! We love the snow here in MA, but would love the peacefulness of a lot of property in a small town. Maybe someday. Thanks for sharing a little piece with us.
