What a great face we have this week from I ? Faces. These kiddos are too cute!
Today I’m taking the Hypocratic Oath: First, do no harm.
It would be too easy to ruin this picture with “improvements” that aren’t necessary.
I tried to tread cautiously!
Here’s what I came up with…
And here’s what I did…
- created a very modest S curve to sharpen slightly. Learning about curves has proven to be very valuable!
- cloned out the pole to the left – nice to have all that bokeh to play with!
- used healing brush under the eyes and nose
- dodged eyes and teeth on two separate layers, and then lowered the opacity so that he didn’t look like an alien (or a denture commercial)
- tweaked the red curve to warm it up a bit.
TaDa! that’s it!
I think the curves made the most improvement – definitely worth reading up on!
A final comparison…
Thank heaven for little boys!
What do you think?!

Very subtle changes. Nice.
I agree, the subtle changes are nice! I like when a photo can be "improved", but isn't over-edited. I will have to read up on adjusting curves, that's one editing option I am not familiar with. Great photo (and smile), by the way!
I really love your edit! It would certainly be easy to do too much to this photo, but yours really looks nice! Aren't the eyes just amazing?!
That's a lovely edit – and I agree it didn't 'NEED' very much at all. I took at look at your edits from last week too – liked them also

nice edit!!
Nice job!! I agree, you can "Over improve" and make an otherwise cute picture not so cute to look at!!! LOL
Beautiful! "First do no harm"…should be hung in every photography studio in these digital days
Happy Friday!
Just right! Great job!
This is great!!! Love all the improvements you made!
You did a great job! I am very interested in this.

Great edit! Sometimes the littlest changes make the best improvement!
Sharon, Hi , It's Deb over at Frugal Living And Having Fun…how are you? I just wanted to let you know that my daughter just went through surgery and I have totally been tied up with that. I hope you are still doing your special Thursday 'family" idea? If so, Please let me know, and I can jump back in.
I participated in the first one, and would love to know how it is going. Do you make buttons? I saw that you made a beautiful button for org junkie. Nice job ….If you do, and you do it as a job, please let me know, as I have a few I would like you to do for me….Thanks, Deb @ Frugal Living And Having Fun.
