Yeah for Fridays!
If you are learning to digital photography or how to use PhotoShop, I highly recommend taking in part in I ? Faces’ weekly Fix It Friday challenge. You can get some really practical experience and learn tips from the Photo Editing experts – I love it!
Here is the picture that we were given to work on this week…
Here is what I came up with..
Here is a summary of what I did
- I opened the picture in PhotoShop CS3 and rotated it 90 CW
- I cropped the picture to a 5×7
- I adjusted the levels of the picture, sliding just to the point where the histogram started. Amazing.
- I ran PW’s boost and lowered the opacity to 70%
- I ran PW’s slight sharpen
- I opened curves and lowered the blue channel slightly
- I used the dodge tool on the white of her eyes
- I sharpened the eyes
I didn’t want to do anything to soften the skin, because I thought it was just perfect the way it was. I’m learning that too much tinkering can create “scary alien looking zombie” pictures… Not the the look I was going for here!
Then, just as I was ready to say “done!” I ran one more action (PW’s Warmer) and it changed the tone ever so slightly.
Lovely.
I really like it.
So, in summary…
any thoughts?

Excellent! I love what you've done. It's so much brights and just pops. I need to get started in this too. I think the practice would do me good. And learning from people who are so good, like yourself, would really help.
Wow! You really made the eyes pop! Good job! I should start I heart Faces! One more thing I should do…
I think you did an amazing job! What a difference it made.
