Why Didn’t I Think of That?

by Sharon on August 17, 2009

This is a public service announcement: The next time you’re shaving your legs in the shower, don’t use soap, or fancy (over-priced) shaving gel. Instead, use Hair Conditioner.

My friend suggested this a few weeks ago and it works like a charm. No need to use moisturizer, no cuts or scraps, no extra bottle of stuff cluttering up my shower.

Pure Genius.

How did I miss this?

Who would have thought that a woman like me, with such an un-erring sense of fashion would be so out of the loop?

(Yes, that’s me in all my 15 year old glory: the permed hair, the painful braces,
my impeccable fashion sense. Any wonder why I couldn’t get a date to the Junior Prom?)

In fact, using hair conditioner is so obvious, I just have to wonder….

Am I the only one who didn’t know this?!

Has Cosmo been covering this essential beauty tip for the last four issues?

Are there other simplifying, clearly common sense grooming techniques that I am blissfully unaware of?

Please, take pity on me. What other girly grooming tips should I know?!

Yeah, I have used conditioner as shave cream in the past. My problem is, I like to use the free or super cheap conditioner and for me, the cheaper ones seem too runny. I also have very sensitive skin and get razon burn easily so I stick to shaving cream but always stock up when it is on sale and I have coupons.

I can't think of any other great beauty tips but if I remember any, I will let you know! :)

I haven't tried this out yet, but now I will with some conditioner that doesn't work well.

Nice plaid beret – matchy, matchy. :)

I tried shaving without anything, just dry skin and rinsing the razor as needed. After shaving, I slathered on body lotion. I have very sensitive skin and this still worked great for me, no razor burn or rash!

I normally use an electric shaver, but it was not charged. I started on just my knees and it worked so well I continued until I had shaved both my legs!

I just used a generic disposable ladies razor with the little strip on it.

My husband has been using lotion on his head when he shaves. It has been working well and he has senstive skin.

I used lotion this morning and it worked like a charm! No cuts, no burn. I think of all those free samples of lotion I have and those HUGE bottles that were on sale, I just may have enough for 2 years!!

Ha, yes I've used it for a while but only discovered it when I needed a substitute after running out of shaving cream.
One other tip I can give is to use 1% hydrocortizone cream (like you'd use on a mosquito bite) for zits. It squelches the inflammation and can help curb some from progressing. Granted, the nasty ones can't be stopped!
Stopped by from SITS :)
