I am not a parenting expert. I’m certainly not a pro in motherhood. I’ve had 14 months of on the job training, but I still don’t know what I’m doing. However, today I have learned a very valuable lesson, so I thought it would be important to pass along.
My son loves to play on our bed. It’s one of his favorite things. He especially loves it when I let him crawl away from me so that I can grab his feet and pull him back. He slides across the bed on his tummy with a big smile on his face. He laughs and chortles and thinks it’s so fun!
Of course, like any mommy, I am ever diligent, on constant alert in case he gets too near the edge or to close to the foot-board. But there is one danger I never thought to guard against, and this is what I need to warn you about.
When your son has a really runny nose, playing this game can have dire consequences. You see, pulling him back across the bed on his tummy leaves long streaks of snot all over your comforter. Long, boogger-encrusted trail markers that I didn’t notice until after we played our little game for 5 minutes.
I now have my very own Jackson Pollock just waiting to be washed. Lovely.
You heard it from me first.
