My family spent the afternoon planting trees. Two saplings now grace our backyard, offering the hope of shade for late summer evenings and dreams of a little boy who might one day climb their branches.
It’s a step of faith to plant. Whether it’s a new tree, a garden of vegetables or a bed of flowers, we are putting our trust in the things we can’t see. We have so little control over what the future holds, yet each spring we hope again for the miracle of germination, re-birth and harvest.
On a day like today, when I’m surrounded by the fruit that God has bestowed on my life, faith seems so natural and so easy. And while I love God for who He is, not the blessing He gives me, I am so profoundly grateful that one of those blessings is trees.

What a wonderful thing to do with your family! And the picture is awesome! I can just see the memories being made.
Blessings~
You are so right Leslie! It was a great day.
I love the picture too; although it’s not of our tree planting, it captured the sentiment perfectly!
This is why I LOVE your blog…it’s not ALL about saving money. Beautiful post!
Thanks Marci! You a big smile on my face with your nice words. I’m glad you like it.
I planted a Weeping Willow when we first moved in this house. I love watching it grow and thrive. We also planted a “Bryson” tree for my four month old to grow up with. I love this post; thank you for sharing it with us.
Found your blog through the Deal Seeking Mom forums and I enjoy it! I also wanted to answer your questions here. I love the how clean your blog looks. The header really pops against the white background. It did take me a while to see your navigational bar at top, but that could just be my bad eyes!
Thanks for sharing your memories of tree planting Whitney! So much fun to have a tree to grow with!
I also appreciate your feedback on the nav buttons – I’m been wondering about that!
