Tsh at Simple Mom has a great post on the benefits of becoming debt free and I highly recommend it. Not only is her site an outstanding source of great information for household management, this post highlights the positive impacts on your life/marriage/legacy if you commit yourself to living debt free.
My husband and I are hard at work on this goal — we canceled our credit cards, we paid off our car loans, we only use cash (debit cards) and we have money saved for emergencies. We have 15 years left on our mortgage and that’s our only debt. I don’t say this to brag, but just to tell you that it can be done.
Is it easy? NO, not even remotely. Is it worth it? I would say a hearty, YES.
Go read her post. Then if you’re interested, come back and leave a comment on what you think about this crazy, counter-cultural, life transforming idea.
