Today is my son’s first birthday.
Wait. Let me say that again.
Today is my son’s first birthday.
Do you know that writing that makes me cry?
For so many years I hoped to be a mom. I longed to be a mom.
I always thought that being a mom was my purpose, what God designed me to be. I was the bratty kid in high school who answered “a Mom” when asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
But for some reason God asked me to wait.
And then wait some more. And those 36 years of waiting seemed like an awfully looooong time.
First, I had to wait for my husband to show up. How was I to know that he was in California when I was living in New Jersey?!
Then we had to wait to get pregnant. Not because we wanted to, but because God wanted us to.
Grrrrr, I was frustrated with Him.
But was it worth it? More than words can say:
Happy Birthday Little Man. I’m honored to be your Mom.
Thank you Lord for giving me this privilege.
